If you’re bothered by the site of the Menu bar at all times, then you’ll be pleased to learn that you can hide it in El Capitan. Launch System Preferences, then click on General. Here you’ll see an option labelled ‘Automatically hide and show the menu bar.’ Click on the option to enable it. If you have Safari running with multiple tabs and one of those tabs is blasting out audio, then you’ll notice a little ‘speaker’ icon on that tab so you can easily locate where the audio is coming from. Clicking on the speaker icon will mute that tab instantly. You can also mute all tabs by clicking on the speaker icon in the address bar. Nice and easy.

You can easily pin tabs in Safari. Simply right click on the tab itself, and then click on ‘Pin Tab.’ The pinned tab will always appear on the left hand side of Safari.
Spotlight Is Now More Useful
Spotlight search is much more useful in El Capitan, and you can type in queries naturally as well. For instance, you can type ‘Weather Mountain View’ and it will show you weather for that location. Or you can type in ‘Documents I worked on last week’ and it will give you all the relevant results. Furthermore, you can drag Spotlight around on the display as well, unlike Yosemite.

For instance, the Maps app will now give you public transit information in select locations, saving you a bunch of time and trouble. Click on the ‘Transit’ button on the top right hand corner to access the feature.
Delete Files Immediately Without Dropping Them In Trash
Instead of deleting a file and moving it to Trash and getting rid of it for good from there, you can delete a file immediately without going through the aforementioned trouble in El Capitan. Open a Finder window where the file is located and single click on the file to select it. Now hold down the Option key on the keyboard and click on ‘File’ in the Menu bar. Don’t let go of the Option key and you’ll notice an option labelled ‘Delete immediately.’ Click on it and the file will be erased for good without it being sent to Trash. You will be asked for confirmation before you proceed though.
